The Handball Arena in the Olympic Park in the centre of London is an iconic landmark - designed and built to host the handball events at the London Olympics in 2012, it now is a completely flexible arena which hosts all sorts of other sports and training events.
Main contractor Buckingham Group enlisted IRC Carocelle to carry out the roof works and IRC Carocelle turned to Fixfast to supply a complete fixing package for this - Fixfast’s tube washer and fastener combinations enabled the use of panels which achieved the specified insulation levels. Fixfast also had the needed solution for the external facade - thousands of ‘shingle cleats’ were used to hang the 3000 sqm of specially manufactured copper panels.
Fixfast maintained a high level of quality throughout the build, minimising site wastage and ensuring continuity of work for the site team.
