Product specification
Rivets are a small but vital part of any building envelope construction, and choosing the correct type is imperative. It is important to consider both the materials and rivet type when specifying rivets for your roofing, cladding and rainscreen projects.
Rivet material | Product code affix | Key features |
Carbon steel body / carbon steel mandrel | CC | Zinc plated carbon steel is suitable for use on projects where corrosivity won’t be an issue including internal and external applications in non-corrosive, non-coastal environments such as rural and urban locations. |
Aluminium body / carbon steel mandrel | AC | A dependable general purpose material combination suitable for a wide variety of applications. It is, however, important to recognise that the mandrel is left within the body and could rust over time. It should therefore be used in environments where corrosion won’t be an issue or on applications where it won’t cause staining to cladding, roofing or façade materials. |
Aluminium body / stainless steel mandrel |
AS |
This combination provides high levels of corrosion resistance thanks to the stainless steel, while maintaining flexibility within the aluminium body to deliver a good grip range variation. |
Stainless steel body / stainless steel mandrel | SS | High-grade A2/304 stainless steel rivets are suitable for use in environments classified as C3 for corrosivity under BS EN 9223:2012, such as medium risk urban and industrial projects in inland locations. Certain rivets are also available in A4/316 grade stainless steel. |
Aluminium body / aluminium mandrel | AA | This specialist combination is used in the TriGrip™ range. It allows the body to split to create an evenly spread clamping force – perfect for securing fragile materials without damage. |
