Continuing professional development seminars from Fixfast

Achieve your Continuing Professional Development

Fixfast are committed to helping architects and specifiers achieve their 35 hours (minimum) of Continuing Professional Development per year, and currently offer two RIBA approved seminars.

Both seminars are free of charge and can be held at a time that suits you, either at our modern and comfortable offices in Kent, or at your premises within the UK.

Seminar 1 - A guide to the correct attachment of the building envelope

This comprehensive seminar highlights the key issues around external building envelope attachment. Delivered by Chris Duffy, National Specification Manager, you will learn:

  • Corrosion and how to avoid it
  • Workmanship issues
  • How rainscreens are attached and best practice
  • Correct specification of fasteners for corrosive environments such as swimming pools
  • Single Ply roofing attachment best practice

Chris has over 35 years of experience working in the building envelope sector, and has helped develop this seminar in accordance with best industry practice.
This practical session also has the advantage of being tailored to you and your needs, as Chris is always available to discuss any specific projects or applications to assist with creating written specifications.

We received an excellent CPD presentation from Chris Duffy of Fixfast Limited, on ‘A guide to the correct attachment of the building envelope’, which attracted a high interest and was very well received.

It is my view and the general consensus of all the CPD attendees, that the presentation content, innovation, style of delivery, education value and learning gained from this CPD is of the highest standard.

Seminar 2 - A guide to the specification of permanent safe access and collective protective systems

Safe access to the roof is a vital consideration for safe and regular roof maintenance, and any rooftop plant or equipment.

Not only will having permanent access solutions allow simpler access to the roof, but a failure to provide proper safe access and collective protection solutions can result in injury or even death for those that work at height.

This detailed seminar highlights vital considerations when specifying permanent access to raised areas.
You will learn:

  • The need for working at height
  • Who the design responsibility lies with
  • Understanding and mitigating roof risk
  • Working at height legislation that specifiers need to be aware of
  • Statutory obligations
  • Permanent access and collective protection

This seminar is led by Chris Duffy, National Specification Manager, who will provide plenty of practical examples and give you an opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.

This practical session also has the advantage of being tailored to you and your needs, as Chris is always available to discuss any specific projects or applications to assist with creating written specifications.

" …a huge thank you again for giving up your time to host a brilliant CPD seminar and provide us with the opportunity to learn about the subjects covered. The presentation contained lots of very interesting and pertinent information and superbly presented – one of the best."

- Robert Gurney, Project Director of T P Bennett LLP
